Short Stay Business Visitor visa (subclass 459)

For employers requiring overseas people to visit them for a limited time and for business purposes, Business SA and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship are able to help.

Business SA provides a specialised service to members for speedy processing of business visitors via the Short Stay Business Visitor visa (subclass 459).

The visa allows South Australian business people to bring overseas business people to Australia for a number of reasons, including to:

  • attend a conference or training session
  • conduct business with an Australian based organisation, and
  • conduct business negotiations or attend an exploratory business visit.

This visa allows overseas business people to stay in South Australia for up to three months. In addition, it means that overseas clients no longer need to lodge their visa application at an overseas embassy.

Once the visa has been approved in South Australia, the overseas contact is simply required to send their passport to the nearest DIAC office overseas to have the visa inserted in the passport.
