Use an Agent

As a newly arrived business migrant to South Australia, you may require the services of a migration agent. A migration agent can assist you by:

  • Advising you on the type of visa that best suits you
  • Informing you of the documents you need to submit with your application
  • Helping you complete the application form
  • Submitting the application on your behalf, and
  • Communicating with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship on your behalf.

Since 1 October 2006 registered migration agents in Australia and overseas may be entitled to certify copies of original documents that relate to visa applications.

Note: You do not need to use a migration agent to lodge a  visa application or asylum claim. Your application will not be decided any sooner if you use a migration agent and they cannot influence the outcome of your application. However, if you do not feel confident in lodging an application, or if your case is complex, a migration agent may be able to assist you.

In Australia, migration agents must be registered with the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA) in order to provide immigration assistance services. To access the MARA site, click here.

The Migration Institute of Australia (MIA) is the peak professional body for migration agents. Should you seek the services of a migration agent who is a member of the MIA, please click here.
