Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveal a decline in local retail trade and building approvals.

Retail turnover in South Australia for September 2009 was 0.6 per cent lower (seasonally adjusted) than the previous month's figures.

This compares to the national retail turnover which had a 0.2 per cent decrease during the same month.

Local building approvals for private housing in South Australia decreased by 2.7 per cent, while national figures saw a 0.3 per cent increase.
