Migration for Business Growth
The population of South Australia has reached a new high according to official figures published today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The State's Estimated Resident Population now stands at 1,601,821 as at 30 June 2008, up 17,600 (1.1 per cent).
Overseas migration is the largest contribution to South Australia's population growth over the past twelve months a net 14,186 people to our ranks - 7.9% higher than in the previous 12 months.
Natural population increase has also added 7,793 people to the State's numbers in the year up to 30 June 2008 - a 16% increase on the previous 12 months.
There was a net outflow of 4355 people to other States.
